š PSA Halifax and Port Halifax have welcomed two new electric rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes at the Atlantic Hub terminal ā introducing the first remotely operated yard equipment in Halifax. Operated from a centralised control room, the new cranes š²š»šµš®š»š°š² šš®š³š²šš š®š»š± šš¼šæšøš¶š»š“ š°š¼š»š±š¶šš¶š¼š»š for our people by eliminating the need to work at height and in challenging weather conditions, while š¶šŗš½šæš¼šš¶š»š“ š¼š½š²šæš®šš¶š¼š»š®š¹ š®š°š°ššæš®š°š, š²š³š³š¶š°š¶š²š»š°š š®š»š± šæš²š¹š¶š®šÆš¶š¹š¶šš. The electric-powered cranes also support šŗš¼šæš² ššššš®š¶š»š®šÆš¹š² š¼š½š²šæš®šš¶š¼š»š, with an expected reduction of at least 640 tonnes of carbon emissions annually ā equivalent to removing nearly 140 passenger vehicles from the road. š³š As part of the Inter-Terminal Rail Solution Project, the new cranes will strengthen rail connectivity between PSA Halifax terminals and support increased capacity for container rail services across Canada, enabling faster and more efficient cargo flows for customers. š Congratulations to the PSA Halifax team and partners on this milestone as we continue strengthening resilient, efficient and more sustainable port and supply chain ecosystems.
