⚡ Meet our Experts - Program Director Roger Lindbergh ⚡   ❔ What is your role and what does a normal day look like for you? As a Program Director in GlobalConnect, I work on large-scale fibre infrastructure projects and get to be part of building the networks that keep our societies connected. My role is to bring together international teams, partners, and stakeholders to deliver highly complex projects, including building new submarine cables.   My workdays are very varied. One moment I’m aligning with engineering teams or authorities, the next I’m solving challenges or refining project strategy. It’s fast-paced, collaborative, and incredibly rewarding to see progress across multiple countries and teams.   ❔ What is one thing that you don’t think people realize about your job? Most people don’t realize how many people and functions in the organisation that are involved in projects of this scale. I get to work with highly skilled colleagues across the Nordics on a daily basis. There is an immense amount of planning and preparation before anything is built. Behind every cable in the water is often years of coordination across countries, disciplines, and organizations. It’s a true team effort that spans everything from sales, finance, engineering, design, procurement, permitting, environmental planning etc.   ❔ What is the most exciting part of your field right now? What makes this field so exciting right now is its impact. High-capacity, secure connectivity is more important than ever, and we’re right at the center of it. There is a huge and growing demand for connectivity enabling AI and Datacentres. High on the agenda is also to provide resilience across the Nordics. We’re building critical infrastructure helping societies and businesses connect and grow.   ❔ What’s a topic you could talk about for hours and why? I could talk for hours about how large infrastructure projects comes together across borders. There’s something special about combining technology, teamwork, and real-world impact, especially when you see a project evolve from early planning stages to a live network.
