As farmers of the ocean, GSI members spend their days living by the water, researching its environment and working with coastal communities who depend on ocean resources. This closeness to the ocean creates a sense of responsibility but also an incentive to protect it. Today is United Nations #WorldOceanDay. For salmon farmers, we see firsthand the ocean’s value and its vulnerability. This is what brings GSI members together: the responsibility to safeguard ocean health while producing nutritious food for a growing global population. We start with the people and members making it happen. Through collaboration, global salmon farming companies share knowledge, tackle collective challenges and accelerate progress in areas like fish health and welfare, climate action and transparency.
