FAO has just launched a new series of papers which outline The four betters: a framework for SDG acceleration - better nutrition, better environment, better production, and better life to help meet the 2030 agenda. Providing an update on how we’re doing and providing a roadmap of future work - they’re an important read if you are interested in seeing how transforming Agrifood systems is essential to achieving sustainable development. Throughout the papers, responsible aquaculture is highlighted as an important tool in helping make progress towards the SDGs - not just as a food source, but as a solution to help build greater climate, ocean health, and economic resilience. But further work is needed to help meet the 2030 goals and time is running out. Technology, innovation, data and complements (partnerships) are all recommended as ways we can accelerate progress, and directives we are committed to integrating across our work to help ensure aquaculture can contribute to a better food system for all.
