Thank you to everyone who braved the heat and came to watch our session on the third and final day of MAD//FEST 2026! With 'The Human Touch' being the hot topic of the festival, 'Creators Took Over My Living Room' saw creators Bambino Becky and Benedict Townsend sit down with Charles Ubaghs and Joe Copeman to unpick YouTube's mighty migration from the humble phone screen to the screen at the centre of peoples' homes. The conversation on changing viewing habits paired our panellists' own observations with research from Global Studios. Even the British obsession with classic Christmas films and TV specials couldn't stop this trend, with Charles citing how YouTube reached more people on televisions in December 2025 than the BBC - the first time in its history according to Barb Audiences. For creators Benedict & Becky, it's a regular occurrence to be tagged in photos of their YouTube content on a TV in someone's living room, opposed to a smartphone screenshot. Because of this, they both felt a need to up their game - optimising the YouTube content we celebrate them for, for TV viewing. Benedict explained this care and respect is because "you're in their living room, that's their personal space. I want it to look good, I want it to feel nice." 'The Most Trusted Voice in the Room' research deck is linked in our comments! #Global | #MADFEST | #Audio | #Video | #YouTube | #Podcasts
