Sr Engineer / Partial Discharge Specialist
Following hot on the heels of the release of the new Edition 4 of IEC 60270, I've been delighted to learn that Detlev Gross has been named convenor of IEC TC42 MT23 (60270) and MT14 (IEC TS 62478, currently re-starting), effective September 1st, when Michael Muhr will be stepping down after many years. We bid Michael a warm farewell and thank him very much indeed for his leadership and wisdom as convenor of both working groups; it was an honour and a pleasure working with you Michael! We hope you stay on as an active member. I've known Detlev for over 30 years and we've collaborated together many times, yet he still always amazes me with the breadth and depth of his knowledge in the field. This includes a profound understanding of the physics of partial discharge in virtually every type of high voltage apparatus, along with deep know-how regarding acquisition of the elusive PD signal, both theoretically and practically, acoustically and electrically, from all types of sensors down to the circuit board component level. I'm very much looking forward to continue working together under his guidance in these two teams.
