Congratulations to Glencore Canada's Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations (Sudbury INO) mine rescue team who achieved 1st place at the 2026 Ontario Mine Rescue Provincial Competition! Their victory marks Sudbury INO’s first provincial mine rescue title since 2008 and reflects the team’s dedication, expertise, and commitment to safety – one of Glencore’s key Values. Successes at provincial and national mine rescue competitions also help teams prepare for global events, including the International Mines Rescue Competition (IMRC). Hosted in Zambia, IMRC 2026 brought together the world’s top mine rescue teams to test the technical expertise and decision-making needed to respond to challenging underground emergency scenarios. ⛑️ This year, the event was a fantastic learning opportunity for colleagues from Glencore’s Kamoto Copper Company S.A. in the DRC, who participated as observers. By connecting with rescue teams and safety professionals from around the world, they gained insights that can help strengthen training, preparedness and emergency response capabilities. But most importantly, mine rescue competitions are about more than rankings – they're opportunities to learn and provide our people with further skills and knowledge on working safely.
