Redefining Poverty: The Transformation Begins Within At Girls Soccer Worldwide, we often talk about empowering girls to rise out of poverty through sports, education, and leadership opportunities. But in her recent blog, GSWW Trailblazer Cecilia del Rio reflects on another form of poverty we don’t always recognize, “the lack of self-worth, value, and belief in our own purpose.” Through the Ambassador for Change program, Cecilia shares how she learned to confront the “mental script we play inside our heads” and how deeply it shapes the way we see our own value. What began as uncertainty about whether she was “enough” to be part of the program became a journey of self-discovery, emotional intelligence, and leadership. One message especially stood out to me: “Empathy changes hearts, hearts change the world.” Her story is a powerful reminder that no matter where we come from, we all want the same things, to feel seen, understood, and connected. Programs like GSWW create the space for girls to discover who they are, embrace their voice, and grow into leaders. Take a few minutes to read Cecilia’s full story and learn more about how Girls Soccer Worldwide is helping redefine and fight poverty through connection, opportunity, and understanding. https://lnkd.in/dVD_f7Xa
