A community that had only met on screen finally shared the same room. Earlier this week in Barcelona, our Girls Go STEM student and teacher ambassadors met in person for the first time. They traveled from across Europe, and from the very first moments, it was clear how much care, energy, and commitment this group brings. 👏 Guided by our facilitator Miriam Bayés MD PhD PCC, we dived into the workshop “Thriving as a woman in science: from empowered leadership to confidence building.” From sticky floors to glass ceilings, ambassadors unpacked gender dynamics and power structures in STEM. They also practiced public speaking, building confidence and supporting each other along the way. What stayed with us most was the way they showed up for each other. Encouraging words after every pitch, helping one another reframe limiting beliefs, celebrating small and big wins. 🏆 The next day, that same spirit carried into the streets of Barcelona. Through a creative — and at times very sporty — city rally, ambassadors discovered Spain’s pioneering women scientists while building team spirit, shared memories, and getting their steps in. Our ambassadors play a crucial role in Girls Go STEM. As role models, they inspire their peers and communities while navigating the expectations that come with that responsibility. This programme supports them in that journey and helps them grow their impact across the EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology community. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made these days so meaningful: our dedicated students (Aglaia, Ceren, Carla, Daryna, Eleni, Kinga, Natalija, Nina, Sophie) and teachers (Aurelia Dascalu, Eleni Doudali, Jurate Radaviciute, Katarina Veljkovic, Marija Urošević, Olha Doskochynska, Rebeca Mariscal, Vera Mendes), our colleagues (Marta Lorusso, Natalia Molina Calavita, Angéla Gusztos, Silke Müller, Valerie Aubry) and Miriam Bayes for creating such an empowering space.
