“The beauty of mathematics only shows itself to more patient followers.” ~ Maryam Mirzakhani (1977-2017) Today (July 14) is the 9th DEATH Anniversary to her. Remembering Maryam MirzaKhani RIP Today is the nine-year anniversary of the premature death of one of the brilliant mathematician of our age, Maryam MirzaKhani. She was an Iranian-American mathematician and a professor of mathematics at Stanford University. She was known to her colleagues as a virtuoso in the dynamics and geometry of complex surfaces; mainly her contribution in topics include Teichmüller theory, hyperbolic geometry, ergodic theory, and symplectic geometry. she became the first woman and the first Iranian to be honoured with the Fields Medal. The award committee cited her work in "the dynamics and geometry of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces".
