Last week there was a story in the Linkedin News Feed about a Danish company called Clever. The headlines announced that the CEO has made himself obsolete. His name is Casper Kirketerp-Møller. He co-founded Denmark's biggest electric vehicle charging operator. Clever is a major infrastructure business five hundred employees. From 2019, he spent six years systematically dismantling every layer of management in the company. Including his own role. His aim was to enable every person on the payroll do their best work without someone else's approval standing between them and a decision. The proof of the pudding...92% of employees said they were glad to go to work each morning. So it looks like a business which has really thought about the very things most people say they want from work: autonomy, meaning, a real voice in what happens. Gen Z have just got the business model they have been crying out for! Is this the future of work? And if so, how would you prepare the workforce for such a significant transformation? A business which can operate effectively without management requires new level thinking when it comes to skills development. Vote for the skill set you think would be your number 1 priority or put another in the comments.
