We were proud to welcome over 100 5th–8th grade students from the San Mateo–Foster City School District to Gilead for our “Science is Sweet” event—an immersive day designed to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists. Supported by the Gilead Foundation, students explored our campus, participated in a “Meet Our Scientists” panel, and engaged in hands-on activities—from building DNA models and practicing lab measurement techniques to learning about PPE and the science behind cotton candy. Through experiences like these, we aim to make science accessible, encourage curiosity, and help students see what’s possible in STEM.
