Today we, and the Gilead Leadership Organization of Black Employees (GLOBE), honor Juneteenth, marking June 19, 1865 as the date when the last enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom. At Gilead, it is a time to come together as a community, connect history to how we serve patients and communities around the world and recognize the resilience and contributions that continue to shape a better future. Through storytelling, music, dialogue and our Juneteenth flag raising, we gather to learn, reflect and take action while building a more inclusive and connected community.
