A clip from La Linea, Osvaldo Cavandoli’s minimalist classic. Born in 1971 as a Lagostina commercial, it quickly traveled the world. I was about ten, living with my maternal grandparents, when I first saw this "cartone animato." Built from a single white line, the series relied on Carlo Bonomi’s grammelot voice, making it easy to broadcast without dubbing. Cavandoli’s hand—the “author”—stepping into the frame kept the illusion sharp and witty. Winner of the Silver Lion in 1972, the series aired across Europe and later in the U.S. Even today, it shows how much expression can come from one simple stroke.
