The Ghana Maritime Authority proudly joins the global maritime community today to celebrate World Hydrography Day 2026! Celebrated every year on June 21, this day is all about recognizing hydrography, the fascinating science of mapping our oceans, seas, and rivers. Hydrography keeps our waters safe and our economy moving. Every cargo ship that safely enters the Tema and Takoradi ports, every local fisherman finding his way home, and every major offshore project we approve relies entirely on this underwater mapping. This year’s theme, “Transforming How Ocean Data is Shared,” highlights how modern technology and teamwork help us share these underwater maps faster and better than ever. This data doesn't just keep ships safe; it helps grow our Blue Economy and protects our beautiful marine environment. To our incredible hydrographers, surveyors, and maritime professionals across the globe, thank you for mapping the unseen so we can navigate the future with confidence. Your hard work turns raw data into life-saving decisions. The Ghana Maritime Authority remains fully committed to investing in modern mapping technology and training our people, because at the end of the day, better maps mean better decisions and better decisions mean a safer and a more prosperous Ghana. Happy World Hydrography Day. #WorldHydrographyDay #WHD2026 #SeabedMapping #GhanaMaritimeAuthority #SafeNavigation #BlueEconomy
