A bit behind on the headlines π Last Friday, Pieter Billen and Annelies Gorissen discussed the current state of the Limburg chemistry sector in an interview in Het Belang van Limburg. πΏ Although the sector is experiencing rough weather, there's a silver lining in the article: bulk chemicals could be replaced by specialty chemicals, especially if these can be sourced from local biomass sources. π Our #Materiomics graduates (Faculteit wetenschappen UHasselt) are up for the challenge since sustainability is one of the core values of the programme. A nice example of how UHasselt's #Civic mission can be of value. π§ͺ On a personal note, the example of 'using biopolymers for medical applications' nicely fits the goals of the Biomolecule Design Group at IUMAT βΊοΈ If it's in the 'Belang', I guess we'll have to keep pushing forward.
