Assistant-professor (tenure track) at Hasselt University, working on protein-based materials

A bit behind on the headlines πŸ˜… Last Friday, Pieter Billen and Annelies Gorissen discussed the current state of the Limburg chemistry sector in an interview in Het Belang van Limburg. 🌿 Although the sector is experiencing rough weather, there's a silver lining in the article: bulk chemicals could be replaced by specialty chemicals, especially if these can be sourced from local biomass sources. πŸŽ“ Our #Materiomics graduates (Faculteit wetenschappen UHasselt) are up for the challenge since sustainability is one of the core values of the programme. A nice example of how UHasselt's #Civic mission can be of value. πŸ§ͺ On a personal note, the example of 'using biopolymers for medical applications' nicely fits the goals of the Biomolecule Design Group at IUMAT ☺️ If it's in the 'Belang', I guess we'll have to keep pushing forward.
