Software Engineering Manager at Uber Freight
After 9 years at KiWi, February 27th will mark my last day with the company. I joined as a backend developer. Over time, I had the privilege of growing into the role of Head of Engineering and leading the team that built and scaled KiWi through some of its most defining years. The journey wasn’t easy — but it was deeply meaningful. I’m especially grateful to our founders Christian Sinobas, Jorge A Muhlia and Pablo Ize Ludlow for more than just the opportunity to grow professionally. I learned from them not only in their respective areas of expertise, but in something far more valuable: how to build a company that takes care of its people with the same seriousness with which it takes care of its users. KiWi never felt like a place where people were just line items on a spreadsheet. There was intention behind the culture, behind decisions, behind how we treated each other. That shaped me profoundly as a leader. To our former CTO Teo Stocco — thank you for the mentorship and for challenging me to evolve from being a strong individual contributor into a responsible leader. You helped me understand that leadership is not about authority, but accountability. To my fellow Heads — thank you for forming a strong and honest management team. Building alignment across product, operations, finance, risk, and engineering is never trivial. The trust and candor we built made the hard decisions possible. And to all the backend, mobile, and data engineers — as well as the product owners who partnered with us — thank you! We built something solid and meaningful together. A product that our users trust and genuinely value. None of it would have been possible without your talent, discipline, and commitment. To everyone across Mexico, Switzerland and Colombia who shared this journey — thank you for the collaboration, the debates, the late releases, and the friendships that made the pressure worthwhile. I’m proud of what we built. Even more, I’m proud of the people who built it. I’m excited for what comes next — wherever that path leads.
