Big tech has an unfair advantage over local players as they have avoided taxes for a very long time and have gotten away with not conforming to the local rules. Example of this is a 1M nok/day fine Datatilsynet put on Meta in 2023, which was later dropped due to court ruling against it on the basis of cross-border agreements.
