As GE Vernova pursues its mission of electrifying the planet to enable people to thrive, we are committed to supporting communities historically underserved by access to reliable electricity. That’s why we have a goal which aims to ensure that at least 30% of our new annual capacity should serve developing and emerging economies. This week, we took an important step toward serving such a region by memorializing our support for expanded electricity access for the people of Venezuela. As Venezuela works to stabilize and modernize its electricity sector, GE Vernova is motivated to meet the moment. We were pleased to announce an important milestone with the signing of a cooperation agreement with CORPOELEC, the state power corporation of Venezuela, laying the foundation to facilitate progress in the thermal power, hydropower and grid sectors. We have also agreed on a set of immediate priorities including power generation and grid equipment, training and technical field advisory and O&M services to help stabilize key assets across gas, hydro and the grid. This partnership is intended to stabilize the grid in the near term while restoring critical generation and transmission infrastructure. As we work further to restore previous capacity and build new generation and transmission, we will aim to also unlock broader economic development for Venezuela’s people through workforce training and economic development. Thank you to Interim President Delcy Rodriguez, Vice President Calixto Ortega Sanchez, Minister of Popular Power for Hydrocarbons Paula Henao, Ministry of Popular Power for Electric Energy Rolando Alcala, Sectoral Vice President of Public Works and Services Juan Jose Ramirez, CORPOELEC CEO Jose Betancourt and PDVSA Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. CEO Hector Obregon, as well as US Chargé d’Affaires John Barrett and the team at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas for their dedication and collaboration on these critical efforts.
