🚆 Shaping the future of railway systems – from research to real-world impact. Our expert Nishant Kumar contributed to the training of the next generation of railway engineers with a guest lecture at the Universität Innsbruck as part of the course “High-Performance Railway Systems” (led by Harald Loy, University of Innsbruck). The session provided an overview of the scale and specific challenges of the Indian railway network – demanding operating conditions and the resulting maintenance requirements. It also showed how modern engineering approaches can help improve system resilience and performance. At Getzner, we develop and optimise railway superstructure systems using elastic elements to enhance track performance and reduce maintenance needs – particularly in critical areas such as bridge approaches and turnouts. These solutions are applied in projects in India, including passenger lines and dedicated freight corridors, where real-life measurements help validate performance under challenging conditions. A strong example of how collaboration between research and industry drives sustainable railway infrastructure forward.
