Health MOTs for employees made the headline recently, after Sir Charlie Mayfield's update to the government's Keep Britain Working review called for staff health checks. The logic is sound. 2.8 million people are out of work due to long-term sickness. Poor workplace health costs UK employers an estimated £85 billion a year. Catching problems early, before they become absences, is exactly the kind of preventative thinking the system needs. But as the coverage points out, a one-off check only goes so far. Health checks only add value when they're linked to a system of support that leads to meaningful action. A health MOT tells you there's an issue. What happens next, i.e. the support, the access, the follow-through, is what keeps people at work. It's a gap we already help close. Health MOTs are already part of the offering many of our users access through Peppy, paired with dedicated support that not only addresses present-day issues and identifies risk, but also puts holistic preventative support in place to build resilience for the future. The direction of travel is right. The question for employers is whether they're ready to act on what these checks reveal. #WorkplaceHealth #EmployeeBenefits #HR #KeepBritainWorking
