Innovative German Solutions for China’s Food and Agriculture Sector Innovation, localization and a deep understanding of market needs are key success factors in one of the world’s most dynamic food and agricultural markets. The German Centre Beijing and AHK Greater China jointly hosted a business roundtable for the delegation accompanying German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Alois Rainer during its visit to China. The delegation brought together around 40 senior representatives from leading German companies and industry organizations spanning the food and agriculture value chain. The event featured keynote inputs from local representatives of CLAAS, AMAZONEN-WERKE H. DREYER SE & Co. KG, KRONE GROUP, HiPP-Gruppe, SILOKING Mayer Maschinenbau GmbH and AG Link, who shared perspectives on opportunities, challenges, and successful strategies in the Chinese market, followed by an open discussion. The speakers provided valuable insights into how German companies are adapting to changing market conditions and unlocking new opportunities through innovation, sustainability, and digitalization. • CLAAS highlighted China’s growing role as an innovation hub, where strong local R&D capabilities are driving the development of innovative machinery and state-of-the-art technologies for more sustainable, efficient, and resilient farming. • In response to China’s low-carbon development goals, SILOKING showcased innovative feeding technologies that support more sustainable and efficient livestock farming. • AG Link demonstrated how sensors and intelligent data solutions are helping farms operate more efficiently, safely, and sustainably. These technologies align closely with China’s agricultural modernization agenda and reflect the growing opportunities for innovative solutions in the Chinese market. • HiPP shared how demographic change is driving demand for new nutrition solutions, leading the company to expand its portfolio beyond traditional baby food products to offerings that support healthy ageing and help address malnutrition among elderly consumers. Together, these examples demonstrated the diverse approaches German companies are taking to serve the Chinese market and support the development of modern and efficient agricultural and food solutions. A recurring theme throughout the discussion was the importance of long-term commitment, continuous innovation, and close engagement with local market needs. The exchange also underlined the significant opportunities that continue to exist for companies with a strong understanding of the Chinese market.
