✨ 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗡𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗘 𝘅 𝗺𝗥𝗡𝗔 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 Last week marked a special milestone in the collaboration between BioNTech SE, the Victorian Government, mRNA Victoria and La Trobe University - and the broader Australian health sector. BioNTech SE, the German company renowned worldwide for its pioneering mRNA technology, has now installed its BioNTainer units at La Trobe University's Bundoora campus in #Melbourne. This is a major step forward in building Australia's own capability to manufacture mRNA medicines, and a wonderful example of what German and Australian expertise can achieve together. Our Health & Life Sciences Cluster Manager, Kirsten Tschereda, was delighted to attend the Naming and Smoking Ceremony marking this special occasion, led by the Wurundjeri People. The two units were given meaningful names in Woi wurrung language: Wirrarap, meaning medicine man, faith and spirit healer, and Boordup, meaning a source or place of comfort. The BioNTainers are modular units that can be set up quickly and efficiently. They will support clinical-scale manufacturing of next-generation mRNA vaccines and treatments, with a focus on infectious diseases, rare diseases, and cancer, bringing life-changing research one step closer to patients. Congratulations to BioNTech SE, La Trobe University, mRNA Victoria, and everyone involved in bringing this vision to life. We are proud to witness German and Australian expertise coming together to drive world-leading advances in mRNA research and manufacturing.
