John Lydon was quoted as reminding us that a "rebellious youth culture" is "absolutely essential" for the future. We forget that many of the historical figures we study and look up to were quite young. In the historical note below, two of the three men selected by their community to invite Garrison and Douglass to Harrisburg were in their twenties. The third, the old man of the group, was forty-three. Real change starts with youth.
