I’m pleased to share a recently published open-access book chapter based on findings from my PhD research exploring the perspectives of practitioners working across education in conflict and crisis contexts. The chapter examines some of the tensions between equity and efficiency, and the trade-offs and dilemmas that practitioners navigate within the wider humanitarian, development and education ecosystem, and how these shape programme design and decision-making in practice. https://lnkd.in/e2DPCDNB The chapter itself emerged from a summer conference convened by the Georg Eckert Institute and led by the inspiring Mario Novelli , which brought together researchers from diverse disciplinary, professional and geographical backgrounds. The conversations that began there ultimately led to this publication, new collaborations and lasting friendships. More recently, I had the opportunity at Wellcome to help facilitate a workshop bringing together researchers, practitioners and people with lived experience to explore the intersection of heat and neurological conditions. It reminded me again of the value of creating spaces where different perspectives can meet, challenge one another, and generate new ways of thinking. At a time when many of the challenges we face are increasingly complex and interconnected, there is something powerful about bringing together people with different experiences, disciplines and forms of expertise. Some of the most valuable insights often emerge not from agreement, but from respectful challenge, curiosity and shared learning. I’m grateful to the practitioners who contributed to the research, to the editors and fellow authors, and to the wider community of colleagues whose ideas continue to shape my own thinking.
