𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲! Antibiotic resistance is one of the greatest challenges in modern medicine. Understanding the molecular mechanisms behind it is crucial for developing new strategies to combat this threat. Gen-H Genetic Engineering Heidelberg GmbH used its extensive expertise in genome engineering, in particular in the modification of essential genes, contributing to the understanding of how antibiotic resistance emerges. We generated three genomic 𝘧𝘶𝘴𝘈 variants for Ingo Wohlgemuth and colleagues, who discovered a fascinating resistance mechanism: mutations in 𝘧𝘶𝘴𝘈, encoding elongation factor G, can confer resistance to aminoglycosides by selectively slowing down ribosome movement along mRNA, recently published in 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: https://lnkd.in/eRUWiATR In addition, Gen-H developed a method for 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰-𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, which has been already successfully 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗟!
