GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Velan Inc. announced a collaboration to explore opportunities for Velan to supply Reactor Integral Isolation Valves (RIIV) and Containment Isolation Valves (CIV) for future BWRX-300 small modular reactor projects in Europe. The announcement was made in the presence of The Honourable Stephen Lecce, Ontario's Minister of Energy and Mines. The agreement builds on the experience and capabilities being developed through the Darlington New Nuclear Project in Ontario, Canada, where the first commercial-scale SMR in the western world is under construction. As countries across Europe look to strengthen energy security, meet growing electricity demand, and advance decarbonization goals, we are working with customers and partners to help make new nuclear deployment a reality. By applying lessons learned from projects already underway and collaborating with experienced suppliers, we continue to build the foundation for future BWRX-300 deployments globally.
