The hotelier and real estate magnate Leona Helmsley left $12 million in her will to her dog, Trouble. Helmsley bought the pet for comfort after the death of her husband, billionaire hotelier Harry Helmsley. Helmsley ordered that the dog be "washed or steam-cleaned at least once a year," for which she left $3 million. It was flown by private jet to Florida whenever it didn’t receive good care from Helmsley’s brother. As unconventional as that may seem, most states really try to honor whatever you put in your will, probate lawyers say the will is a person's last chance to seek revenge or reward the living. Helmsley had $2.3 billion in liquid assets when she died, according to the probate petition, and the disposal of her real estate holdings is expected to produce an additional $3 billion to $6 billion. #realestate #lawyers #will #US
