⚡5️⃣ Five Things From This Week 5️⃣⚡ Starting 2026 with good intention (let's see how long this lasts!), I'm picking back up on the five #energy sector news items that caught my eye this week, beyond the #AR7 results of course.... 👀 : 1️⃣ #CPPA - Department for Energy Security and Net Zero launched a consultation to boost the UK corporate power purchase agreement market. It's limited to sleeved and unsleeved, onsite and private wire cPPAs and responses are due 6 March. This comes as Granular Energy and Baringa analysis shows an increasing uptake in hourly-matched electricity tariffs to match demand for truly carbon-free electricity abandoning certificate-backed tariffs as potential greenwashing. 💚 2️⃣ #Downing - Downing have had a busy old time lately having acquired New Hall (22.2MW) and Low Farm (49.9MW) solar sites, and signed a joint venture with Tokyo Century Corporation / 東京センチュリー to acquire and construct a 500MW portfolio of utility-scale onshore solar sites. 🛍️ 3️⃣ #DealsDealsDeals - In other deals, Anesco Ltd has bought the 36MW Beachampton solar farm from One Planet Developments Limited, Triple Point will be arranging debt funding for the 57MW Whitelaw Brae wind farm (a JV between Thrive Renewables and TopCashback UK), Low Carbon agrees a 52MW 15-yr Route to Market #PPA with SSE plc, Elements Green now owns the 149MW #BESS project at Bolney Green, and RWE have joined forces with KKR to deliver the 3.1MW Norfolk Vanguard offshore projects. 🤝 4️⃣ #NorthFalls #DCO - The decision on the development consent order for the 1MW North Falls offshore wind farm (RWE and SSE Renewables) has been pushed back to 28 April.
