One of the greatest misconceptions in complex seating is that success is achieved by creating the most rigid or symmetrical sitting position possible. In reality, for many individuals with complex neurological conditions, the goal is to provide postural stability while preserving purposeful movement. This prescription combines the KI Mobility Focus CR with the Stealth EPiC Seating System, incorporating a Domino Cushion, Stealth ADI Back, Bodypoint harnessing and a Stealth adjustable headrest with a tone deflector. Together, these components provide a stable foundation while accommodating dynamic movement patterns and fluctuating muscle tone. The objective is not to eliminate movement, it is to guide and optimise it. Restricting movement can increase abnormal tone, fatigue and discomfort, whereas controlled movement can improve comfort, function, pressure redistribution and participation throughout the day. Successful seating should always balance three key principles: šŸ’š Support where support is required. šŸ’š Freedom where movement is beneficial. šŸ’š Adaptability as individual presentations change. As clinicians, our responsibility extends beyond achieving an ideal posture during assessment. We should prescribe seating systems that enable individuals to function, participate and remain comfortable throughout every aspect of daily life. Movement is not the opposite of stability, it is an essential component of good clinical seating. #ComplexSeating #ClinicalReasoning #PosturalManagement #NeurologicalRehabilitation #WheelchairSeating #AssistiveTechnology #Physiotherapy #OccupationalTherapy #24HourPosturalCare #KIMobility #StealthProducts
