📌Project Update: Gas to Ballycoolin hot-tap completed Our team have reached a significant milestone on the Gas to Ballycoolin project, with the safe and successful completion of a hot-tap connection for a new customer project to the live high-pressure Abbotstown to Ballough pipeline. Our highly trained and skilled design and construction partners at Tetra Tech Europe and Murphy completed this connection using the ‘hot tap’ method whereby new pipeline is joined to the existing network while live gas continues to flow, meaning we did not have to interrupt supply to other customers in the process. This hot-tap was completed within a busy business park, which requires 24/7 access for its residents. That meant the area cordoned off for the works was much more constrained than normal and required weeks of careful planning including detailed safety and engineering controls, as well as regulatory and environmental compliance. A huge well done to all involved! Works are continuing on this project to connect a large commercial customer in Northwest Business Park with construction of a 500-metre transmission (high-pressure) pipeline now complete and the build of a new Above Ground Installation ongoing.
