Decarbonisation remains a significant challenge for Irish manufacturing companies that rely on high temperatures for their operations, yet Kingscourt Brick (part of the Breedon Group plc) is proving what’s possible. With the support of our Customer Solutions team and Flogas Ireland, Kingscourt Brick are setting a powerful example of innovation and sustainability by piloting the use of renewable biomethane to manufacture Ireland’s first low carbon clay brick - the BioBrick. Biomethane, a renewable gas produced from organic waste, can be delivered through Ireland’s existing gas network and used without requiring changes to equipment or operations. This makes it a powerful option for businesses and sectors that want to decarbonise their thermal processes efficiently. Kingscourt Brick’s biomethane pilot shows how this renewable gas can unlock real progress in areas long considered difficult to decarbonise—while enabling product innovation that benefits the wider construction supply chain. The BioBrick is an exciting example of what’s possible when industry and energy infrastructure work hand‑in‑hand to progress Ireland’s renewable gas future.
