My novel, Someplace North, Someplace Wild, begins when a young cowboy leaves Texas to seek his fortune in the high meadow grasslands of British Columbia’s Coast mountains. This short story depicts a pivotal experience 8 years earlier when he is a boy dreaming of a ranching career and how he nearly loses that dream.
