BESS is establishing itself as a defining technology of Europe’s energy transition, and in Spain Galileo is advancing a pipeline of 500 MW. ⚡ As part of that pipeline, we are pleased to announce Galileo has now secured consent for an initial 20 MW/80 MWh of BESS projects in the Catalonia region. And another 140 MW/560 MWh have secured Environmental Impact Assessment approval. 💚 Well done to everyone involved! 👏 Across Spain, Galileo has an active development pipeline of 1.4 GW, with 700 MW already grid-secured, having obtained the necessary connection permits. 💡 That includes our 500 MW BESS portfolio, plus 100 MW of onshore wind and 100 MW of solar projects. Spain’s battery storage market is set to grow significantly over the coming years with the country’s National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan establishing an energy storage target of 22.5 GW by 2030, with BESS projects making up 9 GW. 👍 Find our more: https://lnkd.in/erc_Aips #BESS #energytransition #energysecurity
