Last week's spring graduation was memorable for a number of reasons. Chief among them was getting to watch Tri-County Technical College student Owen Recio stand from his wheelchair and walk across the stage to accept his diploma in Network Systems Management. Owen and his family were told there was a 99.9% chance he would never be able to walk again following an accident in 2022 that damaged his spine and left him paralyzed from the waist down. But Owen refused to accept that fate. Early on in his first semester at TCTC, he made it his goal to stand and walk to receive his diploma. Owen's story is an inspiration and a terrific example of what can be achieved when you set a goal and then surround yourself with people who are committed to helping you achieve that goal.
