Making Medicine My Hobby Again⚕️ When I was at school, I was fascinated by science 🔬 and how it could be used to improve people's lives. That curiosity is what first drew me towards medicine, and it remains one of the reasons I still love the profession today. In today's NHS, with increasing pressures, strikes, and burnout affecting many healthcare professionals, staying connected to that original passion can sometimes be challenging. I've found myself reflecting on this more than ever recently. Outside of medicine, I enjoy playing the piano 🎹, travelling ✈️, and staying active through sport 🏓. These hobbies help me recharge, but they've also taught me something important: we naturally make time for the things that energise and inspire us. It made me wonder—what if I approached medicine with that same mindset again? 💭 Not just as a career, but as a passion. Enjoying the learning 📚, teaching 🎓, research 🔍, innovation 💡, and patient interactions ❤️ that inspired me in the first place. The goal isn't to make medicine my whole life. It's to ensure I never lose sight of why I started. If this resonates with anyone else working in healthcare, I hope it encourages you to reconnect with the reason you first chose your profession. The journey is only just beginning. 🚀 #Medicine #NHS #Wellbeing #Healthcare #LifelongLearning #Ophthalmology #PassionAndPurpose #MedicalEducation
