Everyone is watching the wrong race. The AI at the bottom of this chart gets the most enterprise spending. Monthly users since 2022. ChatGPT out front at 1.1 billion. Gemini surging past 750 million. Claude a thin line near the floor at 31 million. Watch it and you learn who has the most accounts. You learn almost nothing about which AI companies actually pay for. Consumer adoption is a distribution game. Gemini sits inside Android, Search, Gmail, and Workspace. Billions of people are in that ecosystem before they open a single app. That moves the user chart fast. It tells a board almost nothing. Because sign-ups and spending are different races. → The consumer race is won on distribution. → The enterprise race is won on trust. Look at where the money actually goes. Menlo Ventures puts Anthropic first in enterprise AI spending at 40 percent, ahead of OpenAI at 27 and Google at 21. The thin line near the floor of the consumer chart is leading the room where budgets and production systems live. Same models. Two opposite standings. This is what I call the AI Execution Gap. The space between AI strategy and production accountability. Free usage is measured in sign-ups. Paid enterprise adoption is measured in what the chart never captures: → Governance. → Evaluation. → Reliability under load. → Answers a risk team will put their name on. A model wins the phone. It does not win the pipeline. Here is the pattern I keep seeing. A team picks a platform off the consumer standings. It demos well. Then it meets a regulated workflow, and the questions the leaderboard never asked arrive at once. Who owns a wrong answer. How you evaluate it. What happens under load. By then the contract is signed. So before your next platform decision, run one diagnostic. Ask whether you are choosing for reach or for production. Then ask which one your board is accountable for. If the answer is production, the consumer race is not your scoreboard. The race that shows up on your P&L is the one inside your own building. 💾 Save this for your next platform decision ♻️ Repost so the leaders in your network stop reading the wrong scoreboard 🔔 Follow Gabriel Millien for daily insights on closing the AI Execution Gap Visual credit:randomdatavstime
