This week we were pleased to welcome Daniela Ludwig, Member of the German Bundestag and Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of the Interior Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of the Interior, to our headquarters in Rosenheim. Together with Stefan Bloechinger (CEO, Gabor Shoes GmbH), Sandra Gunzinger (Senior Manager Sustainability, Gabor Shoes GmbH) and Torben Schütz (Managing Director, Federal Association of the German Footwear and Leather Goods Industry – HDS/L), we discussed both our new brand direction and our exciting Summer 2027 collection, as well as the current situation of the German footwear industry. A key focus of the visit was the planned textile legislation for 2027 and the proposed extended producer responsibility. For us, direct dialogue is essential: new rules need to work not only on paper, but also in the day-to-day reality of companies. Shoes are fundamentally different from classic textiles – especially when it comes to materials, product lifecycles and recycling – and therefore require an appropriate, shoe-specific regulatory framework. Meetings like this are crucial to share industry perspectives at an early stage: what developments come with the new legislation, and which challenges particularly affect medium-sized companies. When these aspects are well understood, it becomes possible to design regulation that combines ambitious sustainability goals with practical feasibility for the mid-sized sector. Many thanks to Ms. Ludwig for the open and constructive exchange – we look forward to continuing the dialogue. #Gabor #InsideGabor
