Präsident bei Freie Universität Berlin
Three days in Cairo, Freie Universität Berlin visit to three impressive Universities, #1: On April 1, Founder and Chairman Ashraf Mansour powerfully presented to us “his” University, The German University in Cairo (GUC), together with President Prof. Yasser Higazy. It is built after the model of a German Technical University, which opened in 2003, now offers more than 100 study programs to almost 14.000 students. We cooperate particularly intensively with Pharmacy at GUC, spearheaded by Prof. Maria Kristina Parr from Freie Universität’s Department of Biology, Chemistry and Pharmacy (BCP). We also see great potential in teacher education: Egypt already hosts six accredited German schools abroad, and with the ongoing “100 Egyptian-German Schools” initiative, demand for qualified teachers is set to grow further. I was glad to have Prof. Christian Ludwig in my team for this! I was impressed how GUC is a platform for German industry – and functions as a gateway to all of Africa. The same may be true about Cairo and about Egypt more generally. I saw a lot of future… Delegation: Freie Universität Berlin Professors Maria Kristina Parr, Florian Zemmin, Cilja Harders, Beatrice Gründler, Christian Ludwig Team: Florian Kohstall, Hoda El Mahgoub
