#futurefriday: importance of a #safe work environment "After everything I have been through over the past 25 years, the time has come to speak out and to initiate a movement that makes #normalbehavior the standard in #Dutch #hospitals." In this interview with the chairman of the Board of the Dutch hospital HagaZiekenhuis in the national newspaper de Volkskrant, Peter Meer, van der addresses the importance of normal behavior by medical specialists in Dutch healthcare / hospitals. Some suggestions to improve hospital culture: - social #safety should be number 1 priority - acting #normal should be 'new' standard in Dutch hospitals - acknowledging #inappropriate behavior exists Other relevant remarks: “So we need to keep talking about this with everyone to get a movement going, so that all of us — starting with the leadership — set the example of good behavior.” 🤩 “But that’s why, if we really want a cultural change, we need to do this together with all the hospitals.” 🏥 Important and refreshing that the chair of the board of a large teaching hospital speaks up on this important topic! Hopefully more good examples will follow...!
