We wholeheartedly welcome this pamphlet by Greg Rosen, just published by the Fabian Society, arguing for lidos to be revived or created across the country. The paper has an introduction from Andrew Pakes, MP for Peterborough, who has been a passionate champion both for his own local lido and for access for all communities to public outdoor pools. Heartfelt thanks to Andrew, and to all the other politicians we know to be deeply committed to lidos for all. Although this is a Labour document, this support reaches across the political spectrum. We need a National Lido Fund, so that all communities can have access to the many, many benefits that lidos bring. This paper maps out one possible route to establishing it, at pace. How interesting that it was published the day that Andy Burnham set out his vision for "good growth in every postcode and hope in every heart".
