Future Leaders UK Medical Careers Webinar: Insights from Four Different Healthcare Pathways. For a young person dreaming of a career in healthcare, nothing beats hearing from the people already living it. Our Medical Careers Webinar brought together four brilliant professionals from across the healthcare world: 🔵 Dr James Olding — Director and Lead Trainer of Interface Aesthetics and Senior Resident in Maxillofacial Surgery 🔵 Julie Scott — RN, NIP, Facial Aesthetics and Clinical Trainer 🔵 Yousrah Ahmed — Dentist and Clinical Trainer 🔵 Thea Scott — Medical Student, second year at UEA Our young people heard each speaker's career journey the real routes they took into medicine, dentistry, and nursing, including the setbacks and turning points along the way. A Day in the Life segment showed what these roles genuinely involve beyond what you see on TV, before the speakers shared their best advice for aspiring healthcare professionals: the skills to build, the experience to seek out, and the practical steps to take now. An open Q&A gave our young people the chance to ask their honest questions, and each speaker closed with one piece of advice to carry forward. Having a second-year medical student on the panel mattered too, proof that the journey into healthcare is already underway for people just a few steps ahead of them. For young people from underserved backgrounds, medicine can feel like one of the hardest doors to open. Webinars like this show them the door is not locked and give them the map to get there. That is what social mobility looks like.
