A historic step for fusion and scientific cooperation: the Multilateral International DONES Agreement (MIDA) is signed📜🤝 Fusion for Energy (F4E), representing the European Commission and Member States, signed the agreement this morning together with Spain, Japan, Croatia, Italy. The pact lays the groundwork for the construction of IFMIF-DONES, a world-leading facility in Granada (Spain) to test materials for future fusion reactors. Our Director Marc Lachaise signed the agreement alongside representatives of IFMIF-DONES 🇪🇸, Ruđer Bošković Institute 🇭🇷, National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST) 🇯🇵 and INFN 🇮🇹. F4E will support DONES by contributing its knowledge to carry out part of the project and offering its extensive experience in international fusion projects. The signature reinforces the commitment of the DONES parties to accelerating the development of fusion, a clean, safe and reliable energy source for the future. Through F4E, the European Commission will provide 25% of the construction costs, an investment of approximately 202 million EUR. The event, followed by the DONES Steering Committee meeting, took place at Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain. ✨Thank you to all our partners!
