Turning complex ground conditions into a reliable connection: Fugro supported the construction of Tonga’s new Fangaʻuta Lagoon Bridge using O-Cell® pile testing to validate foundation designs in challenging reef environments. Spanning 720 metres, the bridge will strengthen the link between Nukuʻalofa and Tongatapu, reduce traffic congestion and provide a vital emergency evacuation route for local communities. Delivered safely, on time and with zero incidents, the project demonstrates how advanced geotechnical testing can reduce uncertainty and support resilient infrastructure in remote locations.
