Remote subsea inspections. Zero offshore personnel. The first campaign of its kind in the Americas. 🌊 Along Brazil’s coast, Petrobras needed to maintain offshore asset integrity while reducing personnel exposure and emissions. The solution combined an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) and an electric remotely operated vehicle (eROV), operated entirely from shore. For a 330 day campaign starting in February 2025, Fugro deployed the Fugro Vaquita USV with the Blue Volta® eROV. All subsea inspections were carried out remotely from Fugro’s Remote Operations Centre in Rio das Ostras, Brazil. No crewed vessel support. No offshore personnel at any stage. What this made possible: ✅ 100% remote subsea inspections, including visual inspection, CP measurements, and light cleaning ✅ Operations at depths of up to 250 m across hulls, jackets, and subsea equipment ✅ Scalable inspection capacity without adding another crewed vessel ✅ Significantly lower fuel use compared to conventional inspection vessels. By January 2026, the campaign had completed 46 operations with zero safety incidents, eliminating 15,400 offshore staff hours of exposure and avoiding 4,050 tCO₂. This project validated fully remote USV ROV inspections at scale in the Americas and set a new benchmark for offshore asset integrity management in the region. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4g1AHet #Fugro #Uncrewed #RemoteOperations #OffshoreEnergy #Subsea
