Legacy of Jack Welch Jack Welch, the legendary chairman and CEO of General Electric (GE) from 1981 – 2001 died of renal failure at his home in Manhattan on March 1st, aged 84. He increased market value of GE from $14 billion to $410 billion under his leadership and the company’s revenue jumped nearly fivefold to $130 billion. Fortune magazine honored him the “Manager of the Century”.
