Will our elected representatives choose our health, or once again protect corporate mega profits? That’s what’s at stake right now. While farmers, children and families get poisoned by exposure to pesticides, European institutions are rushing to pass a legislative package that would strip protections from pesticides away and allow unlimited approvals. Its name sounds vague: the Food and Feed Omnibus. Its consequences are anything but. That’s why last week we brought parents like Isabelle, Florence and Franck to Brussels whose children have been gravely affected by pesticide exposure. Their stories are impossible to ignore. Together, we organised: 🎬 A screening of Contrepoisons: Un Combat Citoyen (Contrepoison: A Citizen Battle), giving citizens the opportunity to hear directly from those on the front lines fighting for a toxic-free future 🇪🇺 Meetings with MEPs from across the political spectrum, so they could hear first-hand the testimonies of Isabelle, Florence and Franck, and their call for stronger – not weaker - protections 🎤 A press conference exposing the dangers of the Food and Feed Omnibus and why Europe must not roll back safeguards. Read the great coverage by EUobserver and RTBF in the comments. After the summer, European parliamentarians will vote. This is a defining moment. Help us make sure they get the message: we will no longer trade our lives, farmers' lives and the next generation's future for short-term profits.
