Big ambitions need curious minds Meet Dave - who has dedicated his professional life to Frencken and is celebrating 30 (!) years with the company. He is our mechatronics technician and proto mechanic, and he still finds fun and motivation at Frencken every day! Dave, how did it all start? "I started in August of '96, so this August will be 30 years. It also began with an open day - we came in with around 25 other people, and I was the one who stayed. I began with regular production, did a lot of assembly for different customers, medical systems, etc." What has driven you all these years? "What drives me all over the years is that I always find a new project. I like to figure it out. I like the job as proto mechanic, where everything is combined. It always triggered me and keeps me in flow: figuring out how to build something, the workflow, the tools, the floor plan, the layout, the work instructions. I am a proto technician and I have developed a lot of prototypes for Frencken." "I get bored when the work is too regular. I like to be creative, then I am happy." What do you appreciate most about working here? "I like that at Frencken we work for different clients and industries, and it is different every day. That keeps it fun, and you work on new things." What are you most proud of throughout the years? "I served 15 years in the Works Council and helped shape decisions that had real impact on working at Frencken. I am behind the idea of the trial day - it helps us hire people quickly and makes sure they are happy at Frencken from day one." "I am proud that I helped make life easier and more efficient for mechatronics technicians and all our colleagues. And I am always proud of the proto projects that go to production and run well afterwards. That makes it fun and rewarding." And what's next for you? "I am hoping to retire at Frencken. I am still not bored to work here, and I see new projects coming, so I think I will keep myself busy and motivated." "I have been a team lead, but I came back to hands-on work - I really enjoy that part. I am in my place. I am happy with what I am doing: building, figuring out, making things better." What would you tell someone thinking about joining Frencken as a mechatronics technician? "It is really nice to work at Frencken. We have fun, we have diversity in customers and in products, everybody's work is very important, and all together it makes it rewarding. When you want something different, it is possible to find it at Frencken." 30 years in! Would you also like to become our Mechatronics Technician and find fun and stability at Frencken?
