𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘆 – 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 According to the latest annual report by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), a record 165 GW of new wind capacity was installed in 2025, marking an increase of 47.3 GW compared to the previous year and a growth rate of over 40 percent. China was by far the dominant market in 2025, accounting for around 120.5 GW of newly installed capacity, or roughly 73 percent of the global total. The United States and India ranked second and third, respectively. Germany was Europe’s leading market, taking fourth place worldwide with 5.7 GW of new capacity. Fraunhofer IWES is proudly supporting the wind industry with new solutions and ideas to accelerate the expansion of the wind energy and hydrogen economy, minimize risks, and increase cost efficiency. Wind energy research is a driving force for quality-focused growth. Within many international projects and orders, we are joining forces with amazing partners around the globe. Let’s keep this spirit alive, using our ingenuity and growing knowledge to tackle global challenges. GWEC anticipates continued robust growth over the next five years: between 2026 and 2030, around 969 GW of additional wind power capacity is expected to be installed worldwide. #windenergy #research #GWD26
