What does successful European semiconductor collaboration look like in practice? Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Eric Fribourg-Blanc, Senior Programme Officer at the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU), to Fraunhofer ISIT. As part of his tour across all institutes involved in the APECS Pilot Line initiative, Fraunhofer ISIT was the final stop. Together with the APECS core project team – Dr. Dirk Schumann, Gunnar Becker and Johannes Rittner – we presented our institute, our technological capabilities and the progress of our work within APECS. The visit also included a tour of our cleanroom facilities, where key technologies and process developments are being advanced. We were equally pleased to welcome Axel Müller-Groeling, former Director of Fraunhofer ISIT and now Member of the Board for Research Infrastructures and Digitalization at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to discuss how advanced microfabrication, process integration and pilot manufacturing capabilities contribute to strengthening Europe's semiconductor ecosystem. We greatly appreciate the positive feedback from Eric Fribourg-Blanc and the continued support of the Chips Joint Undertaking. APECS is helping build the technological foundations for a stronger and more resilient European microelectronics landscape – and we are proud to contribute to this mission. #APECS #ChipsJU #Microelectronics #Semiconductors #FraunhoferISIT #Fraunhofer FMD - Forschungsfabrik Mikroelektronik Deutschland
